STABLE AFFECT

STABLE AFFECT

"NO HOUR OF LIFE IS WASTED THAT IS SPENT IN THE SADDLE"
- Sir Winston S. Churchill

STABLE AFFECT is a program to help individuals deal with life's challenges. An “at risk” youth, an abused woman or child, or a Veteran facing the daily struggles of PTSD and/or injuries can all use a helping hand. To quote President Ronald Reagan, “I've often said there's nothing better for the inside of a man than the outside of a horse.” For the “at risk” youth the use of horses to teach responsibility, self-discipline, self-respect, the pride of personal achievement, and other character building traits is a well-known established proven success.

American Recreation Resource and Education Center, Inc., parent 501(c)(3) organization of STABLE AFFECT has secured a highly qualified barn manager and trainer to oversee the program. Diamond Sapphire Lady (known around the barn as Jewel) is the Head Mare of the hand-picked kid lovin' equine group. Jewel has the ability to keep the herd in line and to help the youngsters learn. She has carried kids to Show blue ribbons and 4-H ribbons. For the adults striving to deal with their daily obstacles Jewel and friends are looking forward to sharing some good old fashion “horse sense” time with all.

Currently the herd is stabled at a variety of locations. We are in need of 8-15 acres for appropriate facilities. In the Central to Southern portions of Indiana the costs are within reason. Our ultimate goal is approximately $360,000 for property, necessary improvements, equipment, and insurance. When folks are going through tough times any additional expenses are not within their grasp. ARREC does not want to nor plan to charge a fee for the basic services named above. Other expenses will be covered by equine boarding, and various services plus fund raising activities. To assure you that monies will go for those needs I think you ought to know that none of the Officers or Board Members are paid. We are all VOLUNTEERS. In 1994, ARREC was founded as a volunteer association and has remained such.

Of course, like any non-profit association the tax exempt donations and sponsorships are always welcome and needed. We know we are asking a lot, however, we also know there are caring persons who want to help others who are facing life's difficult times. Any size donation or sponsorship will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your consideration,
Judith G. Shepherd, Founder
